Why should we take a multivitamin and mineral supplement every
day?
Cardiologist Dr Ross Walker, who lectures around the world on the benefits of vitamin
and mineral supplementation and the importance of a healthy diet, says that there
is now substantial scientific evidence to support the use of multivitamins and fish
oil.
If we lived in a natural world, where we were not exposed to excessive synthetic
chemicals, excessive stress, and increasing levels of radiation we could just rely
on natural food sources. Instead, our bodies are generating excessive free radicals
in response to these stresses. To cope with this we need more vitamins and minerals
to maintain optimal health.
Findings of the major longitudinal Boston Nurses Study and the Boston Male Health
Professional Study strongly support the use of multivitamins.
Taking only one of the findings: the Nurses Study found that those who took multivitamins
for 15 years showed a 75% reduction in bowel cancer.
In regards to fish oil, the GISSI randomised trial from Italy strongly supports
the use of fish oil for heart health.
